Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • What is a grease trap?

A grease trap is a piece of plumbing that helps to intercept and prevent a majority of fats, oils, greases (FOG) from entering the public water system. Any food service establishment dealing with grease and oil should have a grease trap installed.  Grease traps can be located outdoors, in-ground, or even under the counter.

  • What size grease trap do I need for my business?

Every business has different needs based on criteria set by your local regulatory agency. Having the wrong size grease trap/grease interceptor can result in deteriorated plumbing, interceptor and draining problems.

  • How do I dispose of cooking oil?

It is recommended that food establishments keep all used oil in a specific container for collection.  Pouring the used cooking oil down drains coats the drain line and causes costly repairs and possibly fines. It literally is throwing money down the drain. Let us schedule a no-cost pickup and recycle for you.

  • How frequently does my trap need to be serviced?

Cleaning frequency will vary depending upon the size of your trap and the amount of grease, food solids, fats, and oils produced by your facility. There are set requirements set forth by the state to maintain less than a specified level of FOG( fats, oils, and greases) accumulation. Traps should be maintained and cleaned regularly to avoid overflow and backups.  Our team of highly trained professionals can help make recommendations to create a custom schedule designed to avoid costly repairs and possible fines. We are happy to adjust schedules based on peak times of the year and business volumes.

  • If my grease trap is overflowing who do I call?

If your grease trap becomes excessively full, grease will begin spilling out of the primary compartment into the secondary. This will lead to clogged lines leading out of the grease trap. However, there could be other problems such as crossover clogs or outlet clogs.  If you think you are experiencing any of these problems we will send one of our highly trained technicians to diagnose and help resolve the problem you may be having. Typically our team can fix the problem without you having to call expensive plumbers saving you hundreds of dollars.

  • Why does it smell after my grease trap cleaning?

There are many causes that can lead to an odor after your grease trap cleaning service

    • It is common for odors directly after your grease trap has been serviced. To help eliminate that odor quickly we suggest running water, the smell will dissipate as the water starts filling up the grease trap again.
    • A worn-out or corroded gasket covering the manhole that allows gasses and odors to leave the grease trap. If that is the cause, we highly recommend having the gasket replaced immediately.
    • If there is a blockage in the drain, it can cause a backup in the trap line.  If it does not clear up further plumbing techniques such as snaking or hydro jetting may be needed.
